Just inland from where the Poropotank River meets the York River with the Poropotank and Morris Bays, we can explore low-lying marshlands and coastal forests. The maze-like marsh area is unique here, and particularly at high tides the meandering tidal creeks offer chances to see muskrat and river otter that call this area home.
Closer to the bay there are various nests from large birds of prey, offering great opportunities to watch them fishing and raising their young! Hear legend of 17th century rebels and see abandoned items from 20th century fisherfolk, all while paddling at a relaxed pace along the Poropotank River and its tributaries.
This tour takes about 3 hours, costs $55 per adult and $30 per child, and is fairly sheltered from wind. The launch location is only 15 minutes from the historic Gloucester Courthouse area.
